The Brief
Newspan were tasked with building The Elm Tree, a new 950 sq m purpose built restaurant building to add to Monkton Elms already fantastic site. The new building needed to be a bright space which would be a comfortable temperature all year round.
Bright and airy dining environment
Natural light has been maximised while maintaining a comfortable roof temperature
Flexible work scheduling
We accommodated a pause on site for the floor to be laid, returning to clad the elevations and install the windows.
The Solution
The new building features a 20m curved roof with an automatic vent to allow natural light in and to maintain a comfortable temperature. We accompanied to the building with a cantilever polycarbonate canopy which also filters out some of the summer sun. Sliding automatic and manual glazed doors enable large areas of the elevations to be opened up in good weather. The Elm Tree is now capable of accommodating 350 covers and offers a private conference room for hire.
“The Newspan team has been incredibly flexible to work with and has given us every support as we managed the project. They have been pro-active and helpful throughout and the new restaurant building will be a big asset to the centre.”
